Tsuchida Yasuhiko

New work of Japanese artist living in Venice, Italy

  • Yasuhiko Tsuchida is the only Japanese person to run a studio on Murano, Venice. He works in a variety of mediums, primarily glass and oil paints, but also video and installations. What is remarkable is the consistent presence of strong messages, concepts and philosophies as the unwavering foundation of his works.

Why aren't there any well known contemporary designers from China? Are they still copying the West? Or is something changing... The people behind Bundshop were wondering the same 
We were puzzled about the question: Why are there so few known designers and brands from China? We set out to find that answer, and discovered a new generation of visionaries and creatives.
And yes, this is at least whimsical: Tang Dynasty Toilet Paper. And it makes sense, toilet paper is a Chinese invention, and the cover print is inspired by the famous blue-and-white porcelain of the Tang Dynasty (7th and 8th Century).

Chunzai, acclaimed designer from Shanghai China, sets a trend with highly elegant furniture made from bamboo. He uses aged bamboo as an ornamental surface for hardwood furniture. Chunzai's strength as a designer are his light contours, and modern functionality based on an traditional Chinese image language.
